Hello Memphis! It's Tuesday, August 4, and we have a huge news update today, full of lots of helpful info and tons of upcoming fun events.

– A million people have visited Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid since it opened in May.
– Memphis has made it on BLT Blog's list of "America's Best Tourist Attractions for Cat Lovers". Check out Number 9.
– Local meteorologist Andrew Kozak's new segment about positive Memphis stories launched last week on Action News 5, and I was the first guest. To watch the interview, click here.
– The North Memphis Farmers Collective needs a new tractor. Go here to donate to their Kickstarter (only 3 days left!)
Upcoming Events
– The Annual Backstage Bash at the Orpheum is this Friday: food, beer, speciality cocktails, dancing and live music.
– The National Civil Right Museum will host a Memphis mayoral debate on Monday, August 10 at 7 p.m. Attend in-person or watch on TV or online via Channel 5.
– Local organization Young Arts Patrons will host an"Art Classes" lecture at City & State on Friday, August 14 at 8:30 a.m. with local street artist Brandon Marshall. It's free.
– The Memphis International Rockabilly Festival is this August 15 – 16 in the EDGE. Check out the lineup here.
– The next Time Warp Drive-In on August 15 will be a literal and cinematic Spaghetti Western Buffet with three western films starting at 8:30.
– Beale Street Cigar Festival is on September 5 at Handy Park, featuring cigars for sale, food and beverage vendors, entertainment, special guests, and more.
– BreakFest901, Memphis' new breakfast and brunch food festival is September 26, 2015 at the Broad Avenue Water Tower Pavilion. Expect food trucks, cooking competitions, live music, and more. I'll have all the juicy, delicious, bacon-flavored details soon.

– Grizz Essentials is offering a new subscription package – a smaller box called "The Cub" for $14.99 + $6 s/h and will feature two to three products. I'll be doing a giveaway later this week on Instagram, so if you don't follow @ilovememphisblog you might want to.
– If you book online in August, midtown party bike Sprock 'n' Roll will take $75 off their fee. Be sure to use code sprock75off when you book.
– Doc's Wine and Spirits (in Carrefour at Poplar and Kirby) has started "Memphis Mondays" where all Memphis-made products are 10 percent off – everything from Porcellino's meats to Wolf River Popcorn to Pyramid Vodka to local beer cans/bottles to Memphis-owned wine.
– Choose 901 will have a Pop-Up shop (on tax free weekend!) on August 8 at their HQ at 50 Peabody Place downtown from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. They'll have shirts and other Memphis gear from local artists, plus snacks.

– Yes, I went with friends and did one of the Memphis Escape Rooms. – Just City (a new criminal justice advocacy organization in Memphis) is accepting applications for an art exhibition, See Justice. If you're a student, amateur, or professional artist with work that spotlights Memphis' marginalized community, criminal justice, and the like, apply by August 10. – We now have temporary vintage-looking trolley buses.
– Starting this Friday, the Rec Room will host weekly DJ nights starting at 9 p.m. The inaugural evening of "local talent spinning records and playing videos" and will feature DJ Capital A with a "Yo! MTV Rap" old-school theme.
– In September, the first edition of "Focus" magazine, a new Memphis publication for the LGBT community will launch online and in print.
– You can now do yoga at the Brooks Museum at 11 a.m. on Thursdays. It's $12, and is limited to 20 guests – so you should register online ASAP.
– Think you can Drop The Mic? Apply for the National Civil Rights Museum's poetry slam on August 22. The entry deadline is August 10; click here for more info or make plans to attend and watch/listen. It will be free for the public.
– The Cheesecake Factory opens on September 1.
– Outflix Film Festival (September 11 – 17) has announced their festival schedule and films lineup.
